Suspect Accidentally Shoots Self

Kemp - Kaufman County Sheriffs Office received a 911 call on February 2nd about 12:09 pm. in regard to an accidental shooting. Tommy Wayne Jackson, 34, of Tool was supposedly hunting birds on a property located in the 16000 block of County Road 4052, when witnesses said he tripped and shot himself in the leg.

Jackson was air lifted to a Dallas hospital where his condition is not known at this time.
Investigators at the scene found several containers loaded with copper at the point of exit on the property fence line. The weapon was also found on the property as well. Earlier in January Jackson was arrested for Theft of Copper and Criminal Trespass at this same location. Jackson was released on a $30,000.00 in that incident.

Investigators from the Kaufman County Sheriffs Office do expect  charges and arrests to be filed at a later date.
